Newfoundland and Labrador: Home

Newfoundland was a separate British colony until becoming Canada's 10th province in 1949.  Newfoundland began automobile registration and colony-issued plates in 1925.  A crown was featured in 1937 to honor the coronation of King George VI.  The earliest of the five currently valid base plates began issue in 1982.
